Cloughjordan 2019

Grounding Cloughjordan 2019 brought together 13 artists and specialists to share practice, develop new working methodologies and respond creatively to the community context of Cloughjordan Ecovillage, focusing on themes of the environment and climate justice. This was the second version of Grounding.

We brought together artists and specialists to explore the theme of nature, the environment and environmental justice. This week-long programme included workshops, peer-led exercises and public events, based in De Wett House on Main St Cloughjordan, as well as the Cloughjordan Amphitheatre and the neighbouring community and locality. The artists spent the week sharing their practice with each other, testing out ideas and building their knowledge of ecological issues. Artists ranged from socially engaged artists and ecologists from the Ards Peninsula in Northern Ireland to a movement artist who runs an art and ecology course in Cork. We also connected with local artists and activists from the Cloughjordan area.

The Participants were, Jane Morrow, Michael Rowsome, Laura McMorrow, Ciaran Hussey, Jill Kenny, Pauline Goggin, Jeanne Merer, Aoife Desmond, Celia Spouncer and David Thompson. Curated by Bernardine Carroll, Caelan Bristow and me, with support from Paul Bailey.

The project was realised with funding from Tipperary County Council.
